Chicken Soup for Harry Dresden's Soul: The Food of CHANGES

[Warning: this post contains spoilers.] So, I'm reading along in Jim Butcher's CHANGES, the 12th book in the Dresden Files series, and the next thing I know, Jim has blown up Harry's office, made Harry wanted by the FBI, squashed the Blue Beetle, and set fire to Harry's home. (OMG. I hope the Star Wars poster survived.) I won't even mention what Jim did at the end.

What gives, Jim??

Poor Harry! What's a wizard to do? He needs some comfort food, I think. Some real homemade chicken soup. Not that crap in a can.

CHICKEN SOUP FOR HARRY DRESDEN'S SOUL (for the crock pot because we know just how busy Harry can be)

8 pieces of chicken (legs, thighs, whatever as long as it has the bones still in, but maybe not wings) 1 onion, chopped garlic, finely chopped (or garlic powder, whatever you have. Add as much or as little as you like. Garlic won't help against the vampires Harry fights in CHANGES, but it will help the soup.) 1 large carrot, chopped 1-2 parsnips, chopped 1 celery stalk, chopped 2 bay leaves teaspoon dried thyme dash of celery seed (or celery salt) pinch of ground ginger dash of pepper 6-8 cups chicken stock

Put all ingredients into the crock pot and cook on low for about 10 hours or until chicken falls off the bone. Remove chicken pieces. Separate meat from bones. Return meat to soup. Eat. Enjoy. (Say a prayer for Harry, if you feel so inclined.)
