I got tagged by Rachel Vincent, and since it's an easy one, here it is. 1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate, but made my way with water and cream– I’m lactose intolerant. I like egg nog. It just doesn't like me. 2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree? Depends. If it’s a Big Ticket item, then it would be unwrapped. Usually every year we have at least one unwrapped, unboxed, gift from Santa. But the stuff in the stockings is always wrapped. 3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? We had white outside until this year, now they’re multi-coloured with red rope lights wrapped down the porch posts like candy canes. 4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope. I don’t need a frilly piece of vegetation to solicit kisses from my man. ;o) 5. When do you put your decorations up? The lights outside the house go up when the Santa parades start– i.e. when the weather’s still nice. The indoor decorations go up the first weekend in December. Everything comes down New Year’s day because I don’t like having the chore of cleaning up hanging over me to start the new year. 6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Hmmm. That’s a toughie. I suppose I get weak for stuffing (the traditional sage & onion, but really, any stuffing that’s not over salted), turkey with cranberry sauce, fruitcake (yes, really. I like it with a cup of tea in the afternoons), and cookies. Do cookies count as a dish? 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: Every year the Christmas fairy would leave us a gift on our bed on the night before Xmas. We never did figure out who it was, who signed the tags, or who put the gifts on our beds. Every year we got a new nightie or pair of Pjs, but one. That year we found a set of doll house furniture, all laid out and set up on our bedroom floors. Just as if fairies had visited. 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? The year I decoded my parent’s handwriting on the gift tags. I don’t remember how old I was– about or under 10. 9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yep. See Xmas fairy story above. 10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? I like a green tree with white lights and silver and blue decorations– snowflakes, snowpeople, birds, moose, reindeer. I go for a natural theme, since we’re pagan and all, and really celebrating Yule on the 21st and my husband’s birthday on the 25th. 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it. For about two months, then it can go away. Unfortunately, we get snow from November through to early April. 12. Can you ice skate? Yes, but mostly on my ass. 13. Do you remember your favorite gift? The dollhouse furniture mentioned above. 14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Family. Being together, celebrating peace on earth. 15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Cookies. 16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Staying in our pjs all day on Xmas, playing with all the new stuff, reading new books, munching on all the goodies and hors d’oeuvres all day. We do the big turkey blow out on Boxing Day. 17. What tops your tree? A silver wire star, no lights. 18. Which do you prefer: giving or receiving? Giving, of course. 19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? O Holy Night. It gives me chills every time. 20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Yum, in moderation. I’m not a big candy lover. Okay, if you're reading this, you're tagged. And just to make sure we pass on the fun, I'm going to name Susan Adrian, and Mrs Mitty. Leave me a comment when you've posted!
